God in my parenting

 

The rod and reproof give wisdom: But a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; Yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

Proverbs 29:15‭, ‬17 KJV

I am noticing that the Hoy Spirit is calling me out for my parenting.  I grew up thinking I would let my kids do what they were going to do and that it'll work its way out in the end.  That is far from the truth. You see all these gurus on how to teach your children and how you need to handle your children and now were are in an age of political parenting (government/ social media parenting). The old saying that "it takes a village to raise a child" does not apply to a child of God nor the children that God blessed them to have and raise. God tells you how to raise your children and we should follow accordingly. 

To have a child is to receive a blessing and a responsibility to impact the world for generations to come. Long after you have died, that child will pass on what you taught them to their children. And so what are we going to teach them? A societal truth, a subjective truth. These lie of independence and no accountability. That morality is a choice and a myth. Who they are is determined by how they feel that day. Or are we going to teach them the truth that God has put in your heart? About Jesus saving you and them. That the saving Grace of Jesus is what they need in this world and where they can find it.

This is not a post to tell you how to parent. This is a post to point to the heavenly father, the ultimate parent.
