Reward and Persecution

Mark 10:30

But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

In this world we will be given many of blessing by God. Family, security, God will provide for his people in this life. But that does not mean we are going to fully prosper on this earth. We will grow and gain more things in this earth but the goal as believers is not to have wealth and status. That is all fine and good and God does reward those who follow him. But our main goal in this world is to tell people about the Gospel and to tell lost who God truly is. Unfortunately that part of life does come with persecution and suffering. There will be time when you will be hurt and ignored and looked down upon by others who do not believer in what you believe, they will shun you or mock you and even fight you. Persecution has many faces and all want to end the Gospel. The beautiful thing is that, the persecution you face is not a bad thing because it means you are serving God. And our ultimate reward is that eternal life in heaven with our father. So when you are down and out, feeling like the world is against you remember that they will be against you because you serve God and you gain a reward that is better than any thing they can offer you.
