Are you Spent, and are you being spent?

2 Kings 13:18&19

18And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed. 19And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

Elisha the prophet was disappointed in the king for not firing more arrows into the ground to bring peace to the Nation of Israel against the Syrian forces. The king decided to take what the Lord told him to do and do it until he felt as though he had done enough. No sign from God was given to stop firing. The king said to himself, "Three is good right? Yeah, Three is fine."  Too many times I say to myself " Yeah that's enough for today." Or "I just do this much and it'll be good." The Bible says that God's people are spent and be spent. But how can we get to the "Be Spent" part if we haven't been spent? The end result was that Israel received the victory over the Syrians equal to the amount of time the King fired arrows into the Ground. They received a blessing equal to the work put in.

This is not meaning works equal blessing. This is saying that you'll never get the most out of the blessing or even the gifts that God gives you if you do not push your ability and faith to the absolute edge. It is at that point we get to see God's daily renewal of our strength and we truly get to see what God has for us.

Lord I know you bless us every day and your blessings are endless. Let me not be in the way of those blessings, but let me go and serve you in all that I do with every once of me.
