Is God enough?

"And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things."

2 Samuel 12:8 KJV

When you read this passage and this section comes up you think of it as God admonishing David for being lustful and prideful. But if you looked at it from your point of God being David's heavenly guidance and mentor, then this passage has a much stronger meaning.

God is saying David I put you in this position and I gave you over and over and over again. I gave you more riches more luxuries than I gave himself. So if you had a desire for more you simply had to come to ask me and seek me and I would have given you more.

This is God punishing a man who he claims and still to this day in the Bible States was a man after his own heart it was a person he loved unconditionally. So yes David's greed is unless is a major part of this but the core message in this passage is we should always look to God to fulfill and satisfy our needs, our wants, and our desires. Because when we seek after them ourselves then it becomes tainted selfish and greatly misguided.
