You are Guilty by law
Introduction:
when
Paul wrote the Epistle to Rome he spoke on the unrighteousness of
mankind.
In
Romans 3:19 Paul speaks on the fact that man tries to justify
themselves by using the law written in the Old Testament, but as we
all know there is no way for man to justify ourselves even with the
law because according to the law we are found guilty in the eyes of
God and only through Jesus are we saved from of sentence. Which is a
permanent stint in hell.
Text:
“Now
we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who
are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world
may become guilty before God.”
NIV
Version: “ Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those
who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced to God.”
Observations:
- Man believes they live by the law
- The law was made by God for man to follow.
- According to Gods Law we are guilty
Outline:
1. Point
1: Man believe they live by the law
- Matthew 19: 16-20
2. Point
2: We look at a set of rules that were meant to lead us to Christ
- Galatians 3:24-25
3. Point
3: By the law God created, we are guilty.
Points
of Application:
- Don't allow yourself to believe that you can save yourself
- Never forget that the law was placed as a way to reveal the faults in ourselves
- Even in the world of man we don't follow the law, so how do you think you follow Gods law
- Every time you claim to be a “law abiding citizen,” the law will be there to silence your tongue
Conclusion:
In
conclusion we can never claim to be righteous under the law. We
parade around as if we are, but just remember we are all under the
law and the law shows our faults and weakness. Pleading your
innocence in the court of God will require you to show how you follow
the law. Only to have the law stop or silence your mouth and admit
your guilt and accept the love of Christ, because it is only through
Jesus can we receive a stay of execution and are taken from our
prison in hell and placed in a mansion in heaven.
