Separating The Levites For The Service Of The Lord by Austin Gardner

Numbers 8:10 And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites: 11 And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD. 12 And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites. 13 And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD. 14 Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.

The people were to bring the Levites before the Lord. They laid their hands on them. They were given as an offering to the Lord. The Levites then laid their hands on the animals. These animals were substitutes for the Levites.

So the Levites would represent the people. The animals would represent the Levites. The sacrifice would be made by all and God would have His servants.

Today we have all come to Jesus. He has become our sacrifice making it possible for us to be in the ministry and service to Him.

I love seeing how the people were sacrificing their family to the ministry. The Levites were sacrificing themselves to the Lord.

We should realize all the sacrifice that Jesus made and see all sacrifices that we would make as a great honor and privilege on our part!
