Numbers 26:64 But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai. 65 For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

They are counting the people and planning the division of the land. That must be an exciting time. Then there is the news, the reminder really! None of these people are going to get into the land. God still loves them. He has taken care of them but they will miss out on the promised land.

Only 2 men will make it into the promised land. That is so sad. Sin is forgiven but consequences may still be there. We are loved but we still deal with the consequences of our sin. I hate that but it is true.

Don't take sin lightly. Don't think it will not matter. Serve God. Love Him. He forgives but that doesn't mean that we sin without a price here and now in this world.
