Deuteronomy Chapter 1

As I begin to read the book of Deuteronomy I remember that this is no ordinary book, it is the retelling of the law. it is a reminder and an emphasizer of what all God has done for the people of Israel and what they have done to God in return. How they questioned God and turned from him from time to time. How he showed them mercy and grace and blessed them, but they rejected him and still wanted something in return from God, they doubted God and his Teachings and were punished for it, yet in the same tone they were still blessed and shown favor.

Far to many times we as children of God become spoiled and complaisant with God and we ignore and that he has done for us. We turn our backs from serving him, and only seek him when we are in need of something for ourselves, but God does not wish for us to be selfish, we are his children, who like the people are freed from slavery, for while they were slaved to the Egyptians, we are slaves to our pride and our flesh. As we accept Christ into our lives we are bought out of slavery and we are delivered into the promise that God made for us. All that he ask is that we obey him and carry him in our hearts and spread his messages. Now honestly that seems to be next to nothing compared to all that Christ has done for us, wouldn't you agree?
