who are you?

Romans 1:1-7
Introduction, who are you?

“Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

When you are looking for a job you write a resume and in that resume you describe to the employer why they show interview and hire you. When  A missionary call a church for support or send a letter for an invitation. They inform the pastor of that church who they are and why should they be allowed to come and speak to the church. We can go even further, when you disciple someone or evangelize someone you introduce yourself and explain who you are and why they should take your advice on the Gospel of God. Paul did this on many an occasion, he knew who he was and why they churches he visited should listen to the words he wrote. The question is, if Paul knew who he was, then who are you?

Lets look at Paul's introductions and see who he says he is.

Talking about Jesus Christ

Now at this point Paul has brought in the best voice of reference He could use to show how serious he is. Jesus Christ Himself. Now incase they as well who is Jesus Christ well let Paul tell you who he is. First he brought up Christ’s power as a man. Again he know who Christ was a Christ himself knew who he was and so again i’ll ask again if Paul and christ know who they are then Who are you?

Rom, 1:3
“Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;’

who was Jesus Christ
      Our lord
Made of the seed of David according to the flesh
He is the son of David and has inherited his seat on the throne of David
  1. 2 Sam. 7:12-16
    1. “And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

He also reminded them that he was the son of God and what Christ has done

Rom 1:4
And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead
Declared the Son of God with power
According to the holy spirit
By the resurrection from the dead

And with that last on the power and the resurrection of Christ, Paul reminds them that Christ did this for a reason

Rom 1:5
By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
      Through Christ we have
Received grace and apostleship

Apostleship
For obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name

He remind that they have also heard the call of Christ

Rom 1:6
Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
For you as well are also given Grace and the apostleship to follow the faith among the nations

To finish it these verse Paul remind the church of rome who they are and what God has blessed them with. Paul knew who the church was to God. But do you know who you are to God?

Rom 1:7
To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
This is to those of you in Rome
You are loved by God and with that you receive
a.Grace to you
b.Peace from God our Father
And the Lord Jesus Christ.

Application
Whenever Paul wrote to a church he told them who he was, he was sent by Christ, he told who Christ was, and then told them who they were. The application for this is simple,  when you are on deputation you introduce yourself and write to them explain to them who you are and why you are here. When you are out evangelizing, you introduce yourself and you let them know who you are and why you here. As Christians we know who we are, we know who sent us out into the world to reach the lost. Before I was saved I was lost and did not know who i was. Now, in Christ I know who I am, why I do what I do and what is because of what God has done for me.

My final question is the same question since the start. If Paul, Christ, even Myself knew who we were and why we are here, Then who are you?
