Ecclesiastes 2:1-11

In this section of Solomon talks to us about all the pleasures and wealth he has acquired in his days on this earth. All the gardens and the orchards. All the pools of water and trees where he grows his fruit. All of the vineyards he has made. Marvel at all the works that thy hands have made. Even look at how many servants and singers I have. Not to mention I have all the treasure of kings and provinces.

So not only am I Solomon the wise, I am Solomon the wealthy. Yet he still realized that all of this was still meaningless and was a sign of Vanity and vexation of his spirit. That there was no profit to his labours under the sun and it was all because he did not put God before everything. None of these pleasures and riches still cannot satisfy his heart.

The same can be said about man today, we slave away and work ourselves to death for what a lot of people call "the almighty dollar." The only thing is this world that is Almighty is God and the irony of that statement is that he is not of this world, We put him before ourselves and work so that we may serve him in all that we do. For we as saints and servants of God know that with out him all that we do is meaningless and it leaves us empty for all works that we do mean nothing without the father in our lives.

Father God please help us to remember to put you first before all that we do. Let us praise you in our daily walk with you and that we know that it is by your works and your will that we find true joy in our lives, may see what we already know and will come to you through your son Jesus Christ. In all these things in your holy name I pray

Amen
