Philippians 4:12&13

Now we all have heard this verse on more that one occasion in our lives. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." It is a very commonly used verse in all forms of culture, from tattoos to songs to needle point in an old woman's home on the wall somewhere. We have all  heard it. But how many of us actually listened to the message written in the one verse because each verse in the bible has a lesson in of itself, you have to have the faith you dig into it and find it.

When Paul was writing to the church in Philippi about this he was writing about the peace he had made with God through his trust in God. He wrote numerous times in this letter to them to rejoice in the Lord and be happy in all that he has done for them for all of it. The good and the bad, in the verse before 13 he wrote that "I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need." When wrote that we wasn't just saying that he was told you will have a full stomach sometime and sometimes you won't, no he was told by God that he will full of peace and grace and wisdom to give to the nation but he will also still be hungry for more so that he could not put himself over other so he could stay a humble servant in Christ who was his strength and his glory. Because how many of us can say we haven't gotten to a point one time or another , whether in the gym just going easy on a work out because you think you don't have the strength or sitting at a job pretty comfy with the fact that your job is set and secure and you don't have to hunger for anything anymore, your bills are being paid you have a car and you have a roof over your head and food in your stomach. God has been really good to you he did what he said he would do, he made you full,  but he also made you hungry and some how some way God will bring that hunger and that desire to do more and that want to serve him more when you think you are spent and you don't have an ounce left in the tank and you believe you have nothing left to give, perfect example alot of us here are former football players so we know what it's like to be drained during a workout or feel like your spent during the game and you think to yourself " my pads and so heavy my legs are gonna give out, i'm spent, my teammates are spent, I don't know how we are going to pull through." And then something inside you wakes up and you get that second or third or fourth wind and you find reserve you had hiding in a place even you didn't know about. That's the same thing with God.

When you trust and believe in God the will strengthen you and help you and push you and make you hungrier than you have ever been and not for the things of this world because those carnal pleasure or sins of the flesh will not satisfy you, they will not make you full, and if they do that filling is false and temporary. God will fill you up and he will make you suffer need. And when you think you can reach anymore he will give you the strength to carry on. For "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

Father God I want to thank you for giving us more than we could ask for and me than we deserve. For making us full but also making us hungry still. Hungry for you Lord, for your knowledge and guidance.  For we may think we are full today, tomorrow will be a day of hunger and doubt and we will need you again and again to nourish us and strengthen us. May we be thankful of you blessing and your strength, in all these things I pray

Amen
